Lincoln, Nebraska
We remember and honor the life of Brian P. Hansen, lovingly known as Pancito, Bush, or most importantly, Dad, by those closest to him. Born on August 10, 1981, in North Platte, NE, Brian was a beacon of resilience, courage, and love, whose impact on the world and those around him was as unique and memorable as the man himself. He embarked on his final journey on August 21, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and incredible memories.
Born and raised in North Platte, Nebraska, Brian moved to Vancouver, Washington before settling in Lincoln, Nebraska. His life was a testament to love and resilience, with his heart always beating strongest for his six kids, his family, and his animals. He was especially fond of his cats, Chia, Meowi, Luna, and Cali. Brian was also a huge fan of Eminem and had a special fondness for Christmas, a time of year when his loving nature truly shone. He was a man who believed in the power of relationships, cherishing his connections with distant and near friends alike.
Brian was a talented chef, displaying his skill for the past ten years at Red Robin. Despite the intensity of his work, Brian was always a gentle giant, his towering presence matched only by his compassion and strong-willed nature. His stubborn strength saw him always in a leadership role, a testament to his exemplary work ethic. Brian's culinary skills were not confined to his professional life; he had a passion for cooking that extended into his personal life, serving as the centerpiece for many family gatherings and friendly get-togethers.
He was a lover of camping and fishing, enjoying the ability to teach his kids all he knew about the outdoors. Brian had an enthusiasm for card games and board games, which allowed for him to show his fiery competitiveness. He was an avid video gamer, and his amiable personality allowed him to make many friends from here in Nebraska all the way to Connecticut. He was known for his athleticism, and he loved animals of all sizes from the horses back home to the squirrels in his front yard.
Brian is survived by his beloved children, Athena, Julissa, Noelle, Bryson, Olivia, and Diego; his partner, Brynn Hagen; his mother, Deborah Hansen; siblings Paul Hansen (Stacy Heider), Michelle Eatchel, and Heather (Chris) Natividad; mother of Julissa and Bryson, Julia Keever; mother of Noelle, Olivia, and Diego, Gabriela Hernandez; mother of Athena, Kellie 5 cousins, his nieces and nephews, uncles and aunts, many friends, and coworkers.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Hansen; sister, Susan Hansen; cousin, Jack Flower; and his grandparents.
This Sunday, August 24th, from 2pm to 5pm, we will be gathering at Branched Oak State Recreation Area at their South Shore shelter for a celebration of Brian's life. Food will be served potluck style. We invite everyone to bring your favorite dishes, bring your memories, and let us celebrate Brian.
As we mourn the loss of Brian, we also celebrate the life he lived and the love he shared. We encourage all who knew Brian to leave memories and upload photos to his memorial page, to help paint a picture of the wonderful, resilient, and loving man that was Brian Hansen.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made towards the children's education fund.
"So while we are mourning our loved one, others are rejoicing to meet him behind the veil."
