Carlovna A. Saunders Obituary (1951 - 2017)

Carlovna A. Saunders, 66, passed away Friday, November 24, 2017 at The Monarch in Lincoln, Nebraska. The Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Piedmont Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 4801 A Street, Lincoln, NE 68510. In honoring her wish to be cremated there will be no viewing or visitation. Lincoln Family Funeral Care is handling arrangements. Carlovna A. Saunders was born January 1, 1951 in Bismarck, North Dakota the daughter of Reinhold J. and Margaret A. (Austin) Opp. She and her twin sister, Carlotta L. (Opp) Hargitt, were the first twins born in 1951 in the United States and were also the first babies born that year in North Dakota. She dedicated almost her entire working life to the hospitality industry working as a bartender, waitress and manager in various bars and restaurants in Lincoln, Nebraska; where she developed many, many friendships and acquaintances over the years. Carlovna loved golfing at North 40, bowling, going to see Elvis impersonators and traveling with family and friends. She cherished spending time with her family. Carlovna is survived by her children, Erin R. (Saunders) Overton (Franklin W. Overton, Jr.) and Danielle A. Razo (Derek N. Jones) all of Lincoln; granddaughters, Kamarah L. Walker and Aryelle M. Jones; grandsons, Ethan W. Overton and Trevin M. Overton; sisters, Kathleen M. (Opp) Becker (Peter A. Armijo) of Arizona and Linda M. (Opp) Schroeder (Cordell D. Schroeder) of Lincoln; along with five nieces and nephews; four great nieces and nephews; and two great-great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; and twin sister, Carlotta L. (Opp) Hargitt.
