Chlo Dess Baker Obituary (1932

Chlo Dess Baker, 81, passed away April 18, 2014 at Independence House in Lincoln, Nebraska. Born to B.W. and Mona (Key) Lindley on December 12, 1932 in Plaska, Texas. Chlo was a loving, loyal wife to John whom she married August 25, 1950. They were married 59 years. One of the highlights of Chlo's life was celebrating their 50th anniversary with family and friends. Also, important to her were her 3 children, John, Pamela, and Amy. She lived in Grand Island 35 years and raised her children there. Then she moved to Central City where she lived more than 10 years after which she moved to Lincoln and lived at The Independence House. Chlo and John's family grew from the following marriages. Joel and Pamela Brix had 2 boys Joshua who married LeeAnn and Aaron who married Corey. Jason and Amy Swedlund had 2 boys Ethan and Dylan as well as 1 girl Regan. Chlo had the privilege of meeting her great-grandson Ellis Wyatt born to Joshua and LeeAnn Brix. Chlo always lit up when she saw her grandchildren and always inquired about them. Her other joy was telling others the good news of God's Kingdom. She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses from a young age and remained faithful to death. She loyally supported her husband in activities as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. She saw 2 Kingdom Halls built and the congregations grow to many congregations. In later years, she never stopped talking about Jehovah to those she encountered even when homebound in Central City. Then homebound at The Independence House in Lincoln, she covered her territory thoroughly. She always had a Bible study and a reputation for loving to talk about the Bible. To cheer her up on bad days, the staff would go in and let her tell them about the Bible. She took their breaks in her room either to hear more about the Bible or because she was pleasant to visit with. She was someone you would visit and forget the time because she took an interest in you and had good wisdom to share. She was known for her bursts of laughter and southern wit. Her hope was to see John and Pamela again on the Paradise earth. So she would invite us to share a meal at her home at 827 Kingdom St. Paradise Earth. It was what helped her cope and gave us pleasure to imagine our reunion with our loved ones.
