Doran Beatty Obituary (1940 - 2025)

Doran Alton Beatty, affectionately known to many as Dode, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025, leaving a legacy of love, laughter, and a life fully lived. Born on September 6, 1940, in Luray, Kansas, Doran was a man whose heart was as wide as the Kansas plains, a loyal friend and a loving family man who touched the lives of those around him with his warmth and generosity. A longtime resident of Douglas, Nebraska, Doran was known for his indomitable spirit and zest for life. After serving his community as a dedicated contractor, he retired to enjoy his favorite pastimes. A colossal Chiefs fan, Doran's love for football was surpassed only by his love for his family. From the rolling hills of Kansas to the sunny shores of California, wherever Doran went, his infectious humor and cheerful disposition brought joy to those around him. His playful love for the movie "Great Balls of Fire," his excitement for NASCAR, and his fondness for an occasional trip to the casino were reflections of his vibrant personality. As Helen Keller once said, "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all," and for Doran, it was always a daring adventure. Doran is survived and celebrated by his beloved family: his sons, Shawn (Jennifer) Beatty and Darren (Geri) Beatty; his sister, Justine (Leroy) Wolters; his grandchildren, Ray (Shyann) Salas, Zach Beatty, Whitney Beatty, Drake Beatty, Emery Beatty, and Lola; his great-grandchildren, Ever, Eva Salas, and Matthew Salas; and his stepdaughters, Kathie Salas, Christina Roberts, and Marilyn Salas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Beatty; and his parents, Everet and Clara Louise Beatty. In the words of Maya Angelou, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Doran's loving nature, his loyalty, his generosity, and his delightful humor will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege to know him.
