Eldon Wilkinson

With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Eldon David "Elbow" Wilkinson on December 4, 2023. Born on March 14, 1967, in Bellflower, CA, Eldon was a charismatic soul who lived his life in the fast lane, much like the NASCAR races he loved so much. His resilience was as enduring as a long-haul trucking route, and his sense of humor was as sharp as a trucker's CB radio banter.

Eldon was a man of many miles and many stories, having lived in Otoe, Syracuse, and Lincoln in his lifetime. He was as adventurous as the open road, which he embraced in his occupation as a truck driver. Eldon was baptized and confirmed at St Johns Lutheran Church in Otoe, NE, and his faith was a constant companion on his journey through life. As Ephesians 6:10 says, "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power." Eldon was just that: strong, and full of life's mighty power.

Eldon leaves behind him a family who will carry his funny and adventurous spirit in their hearts. His daughters, Rebecca (David) Casterline and Emily (Jalen) Hillman, will remember their father's resilience and charisma. Eldon's legacy also lives on in his brothers, Paul (Lynn) Jr., Tim (Monica), Greg, and Robert (Lora), and his sister Lori (Shawn) McElhenie. His grandchildren, Riley and Conner Casterline and Miles Maher, will grow up hearing tales of their grandfather's adventurous spirit. Eldon was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Wilkinson Sr. and Helen Wilkinson, his brother Allen Wilkinson, and niece Ronica Wilkinson.

We invite all who knew Eldon to leave their memories of him and upload photos on his memorial page. May these shared stories bring us comfort and keep Eldon's spirit alive in our hearts. As we remember Eldon, we remember a man who was as resilient as he was funny, as charismatic as he was adventurous. And though he may have left us, he takes a piece of our hearts with him down the open road.

Celebration of life will be held on Friday, December 15th, 2023 at 2:00 PM at St John's Lutheran Church-Otoe. Burial will be at a later date.
