George Holloway

–

Lincoln, Nebraska

George Holloway, born on November 13, 1931, in Daykin, Nebraska, has left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew and loved him. From his early years, George was a vibrant soul, embodying the essence of Mark Twain's words, "The secret of getting ahead is getting started." George's journey began with his service in the Navy, where he achieved the rank of Lithographer Petty Officer 2nd class. After his service, George's love for printing led him to work for Jacob North, where he was able to collaborate with renowned individuals like Neal Anderson. His passion and dedication were the keystones of his successful career.

George was a man of many interests and talents. In his youth, he was an avid hunter, a sport that later gave way to his love for fishing and horse racing. His competitive spirit was evident in his enthusiasm for all sports, while his artistic side found expression in his guitar playing, singing, and participation in theater activities. There was a certain magic in George's ability to balance his professional life with his personal pursuits. As Pablo Picasso said, "The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away." George found his gift and shared it generously with the world around him.

Above all, what mattered most to George was his beloved wife, Arleen, whom he married on May 29, 1955. Their bond was a testament to Winston Churchill's words, "My most brilliant achievement was my ability to be able to persuade my wife to marry me." George is survived by his wife and a large, loving family that includes his nephews Patrick (Sandra) Boley and Steve Holloway, nieces Peggy Holloway, and Jane (Jim) Garfield, cousin Nancy Standly, and numerous great-nieces and nephews and good friend Mike Langenberg. He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Grace Holloway, and his siblings IHMOE Holloway and Roy Jr.

George Holloway's life was a rich tapestry of service, passion, and love. His memory will continue to inspire all who knew him. We invite you to share your memories of George and upload your favorite photographs to his memorial page, as a tribute to a life well lived.
