Harold G. Fahrenholz, also known as Sam, was born November 16, 1932 in Syracuse, Nebraska. He was the oldest child born to his parents, Rudolf and Bertha Fahrenholz. He passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Bryan Hospital at the age of 87.\n\nSam went to Syracuse elementary school and graduated from Syracuse high school. He enlisted in the United States Army with some of his high school buddies in 1953. The Korean War was coming to a close just before he finished basic training. He was sent to England for a couple of years before being honorably discharged.\n\nSam was employed at Cushman Motors where he worked on the production line for a short time. After about three years, he was offered the opportunity to become on of the test drivers for the company. It was this position Sam spent about 35 years of his life. When asked about his work, Sam often said that he never worked a day in his life! His love of the job became apparent in just a few minutes of conversation with him. He had an inexhaustible treasury of stories about Cushman Motors, the products or vehicles produced, and especially the experiences he enjoyed testing these vehicles. He retired from Cushman Motors in 1991.\n\nHarold had one major love - Cars! From the time, he owned several great Cars! He once subscribed to six car magazines, reading them from cover to cover. He enjoyed talking with other people about their design, engineering, and price tags. Watching car shows and auctions was a natural extension of his vast interest in cars.\n\nBut Sam was far more than a former employee of Cushman Motors and a car enthusiast. When he retired, he walked or rode his bicycle for as much as eight miles a day, wearing out many tires and bicycles! Through these walks, Sam not only got his exercise, but this also provided many opportunities to meet all kinds of people along the way. He found time to have coffee with anyone who stopped by his house or came by his table at the grocery stores. Closer to home, he returned numerous trash containers for neighbors.\n\nHarold is preceded in death by his parents, Rudolf and Bertha Fahrenholz; and brother-in-law, Glen Floerke.\n\nHe is survived by his sister Ruth Floerke of Lincoln; nephew, David Floerke; niece, Monica (Floerke) and her husband James O'Hara; and numerous other relatives and friends.\n\nBy Sam's request no viewing or services are planned at this time. Memorials may be made in his honor to All Felines Hospital.
