Kathryn Liss

Kathryn “Kathy” Liss, 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, September 2, 2024, at her home in Lincoln, Nebraska. Kathy was born in Genoa, Nebraska, on December 13, 1943, to Edward A. and Veronica (Vernie Jarecki) Sokol. She grew up in the rural Columbus, Nebraska, area. Kathy graduated from Platte Center High School in 1962. She married Joseph J. Liss on June 8, 1963. They lived in Lincoln until moving to an acreage north of Waverly, NE. Kathy retired from Goodyear and was an EMT for 25 years with the Waverly Fire and Rescue Squad. Kathy loved flowers, she was a very competitive card player, and playing the slots at a casino. Kathy was a honorary grandmother to her nieces and nephews who dearly loved her.

She is survived by her Son, Joe E. Liss, and grand dog, Apollo, Son, Eric M. Liss, and grand dog, Pompeii. Brother and sister-in-law Edward A. and Annette Sokol Sister, Helen Stachura Sister, and brother-in-law, Mary, and Allan Brock

Preceded in death by her parents, Son Keith Liss, Husband, Joe Liss Brother-in-law, Donald Long Brother-in-law, Leander Stachura

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, September 28, 2024. A family rosary will be prayed at 9:00 with visitation at 9:30 until services at 10:30 at St Patrick Catholic Church 6111 Morrill Ave in Lincoln, Nebraska. Burial will be in the Waverly Cemetery

Memorials will be given to The Cancer Society and Animal Recuse
