Kathy Riley

With hearts full of both sorrow and gratitude, we remember Kathy Riley, a woman of irrepressible spirit and love. Born in Imperial, NE, on October 15, 1953, Kathy graced this world with her warmth, laughter, and generosity for nearly 73 years before passing on September 10, 2026. A loving sister, caring wife, devoted mother and doting grandmother, Kathy was a beacon of strength and compassion, always putting others before herself.

Kathy's humble beginnings in Imperial shaped the hard-nosed, never-give-up attitude that defined her life. She carried this tenacity into her dedicated career as a postal worker, serving her community with diligence and pride. In retirement, Kathy was a joyful golfer and an integral part of the Lincoln Women's golf league. Yet, she was just as content to spend quiet afternoons immersed in her favorite word searches and crossword puzzles. No matter the activity, Kathy's generous spirit and infectious laughter left a lasting imprint on everyone she encountered.

Kathy's love for her family was unending and unwavering. She is survived by her loving husband, Ronald Riley; her step-sons, Spencer Hansen, Brooks Riley, and Justyn Riley; her cherished granddaughter, Madison Riley; and her supportive siblings, Connie Buresh, Larry Peterson, Gail Wees, and Sharon Rogers. Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, Amel and Ruby Peterson, and her sister, Amy Petersen.
