Margaret "Maggie" Gray

Raymond resident Margaret "Maggie" Gray, 71, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at her home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00pm, Saturday, May 10, 2014 at St. Mary's Parish, 1736 N Third St, Davey, Nebraska. Rosary will be 7:00pm, Friday, May 9, 2014 at Lincoln Family Funeral Care, 5844 Fremont Street, Lincoln. Inurnment will be at the St. Mary's Cemetery in Davey, Nebraska.

Memorials may be given to her family for a memorial to be decided on at a later date.

Maggie was born April 5, 1943 in Atlantic, IA, the daughter of Harry L and Alice F. (Anstey) Porter. She grew up and attended school in Atlantic, IA. Maggie married Melvin "Mel" Gray on August 15, 1958 in Missouri. She and her family moved to Lincoln in 1965 and then to the home she and Mel built in Raymond in 1977. Maggie was a member of St. Mary's Parish and Prayer Chain in Davey, Nebraska. She enjoyed painting, writing short stories, and chatting on the Phone with her family and friends. Maggie loved having her family and friends visit her at her home in Raymond.

Maggie is survived by her children, Dan Gray and his wife Cheryl of Grand Island, NE, Julia Pettit and her friend Dave Benes, and Patrick Gray and his wife Karen all of Lincoln; eight grandchildren, Ann Pettit and her partner Chrissy, Jennifer Turner and her partner Jake, Kaylee Gray, Tyler Gray, Shawn Mortensen and his wife Kim, Leah Reynolds, Andy Mortensen and his wife Mandy, and McKenzie Mortensen and her fiance Tony Potthoff; four great grandchildren; six sisters, Liz Sheehan and her husband Dick, Nancy Dunsworth all of Las Vegas, NV, Fran Walter and her husband Steve of Albany, NY, Miriam Bailey and her husband Ralph of Carver, MN, Amy Johnson and her husband Greg of New Ulm, MN, Marta Arch and her husband Rick of Mankato, MN, two brother, Steve Porter and his wife Tami of La Crosse, WI, and Jan Porter and his wife Gail of Austin, MN; three brothers-in-law, Gary Gray and his wife Marlene of Britt, IA, Don Gray and his wife Teri of Crivitz, WI, and Terry Gray of Marshalltown, IA; one sister-in-law, Ruth Gray of Maryville, MO; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, Andy Gray; daughter, Jody McMackin; grandson, Ronald Patrick McMackin; sister Jean Porter; brother, Paul Porter.
