Maxine Ruth (Schlanker) Buell passed away on July 13th, 2016 in Lincoln, Neb. She was born March 13th, 1930 in Lincoln, Neb. Maxine was the fourth daughter of five born to Willian and Mabel Schlanker. Maxine attended Fairview Country School and graduated Valedictorian from Elmwood High School, class of 1947. She attended the University of Nebraska in Home Economics. She was the last of the girls to leave home. Maxine stayed on the farm to help her Dad. Maxine was united in marriage to George E. Buell, on June 17th, 1952. She hand made her wedding dress for the occasion. This marriage welcomed 8 Children into their family, Andrea, Sacramento, CA; William, Lincoln; David (Leslie), Omaha; James (Paula), Lincoln; Paul (Julie), Lincoln; Stanley (James), New York, NY; Clayton (Dawn), Lincoln; Matthew, New York, NY. Grandchildren include Mackenzie (Oscar) Romero, San Antonio, TX; Elizabeth, Omaha; Cody (Stacy) Williams, Brookings, SD; Halsey, Lincoln; Hannah, Kansas City, Mo; Holly, Lincoln; Heidi (David) Postier, Littleton, Co; Heather, Haley, Hudson, Hattie, Harmony, all of Lincoln, Great-grandchildren include Gabriella, Claire and Elsa Romero, San Antonio, TX; Brody and Rya Williams, Brookings, SD. \n\nMaxine was an active member of Havelock Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). She was an Elder and Diaconate in the church. She spent many years teaching the Sunday School Nursery class. Maxine was a life member of the Huntington Elementary School PTA. A lover of nature, Maxine enjoyed working with her flowers, garden and trees at home. At one time, she had 11 different species of trees on her property. A tree is planted in honor of her 80th birthday in Mahoney Park. Maxine was a champion pie baker at the Nebraska State Fair. She worked for a number of years at the fair taking tickets at the gate. She also helped her sons deliver The Lincoln Star newspaper for 25 years. \n\nMaxine is survived by her husband of 64 years, George E. Buell; Sister and Brother-in-law, Shirley and Marion Wenzel; Sister-in-law, Phyllis Buell; Brother-in-law, Roy Stubbendick.
