Melissa Pedersen

–

Lincoln, Nebraska

Melissa Marie Pedersen(Dryer), fondly known to many as "Mel", was a beacon of light in a world that could often seem dim. Born in Denver, CO on December 24, 1986, she was a Christmas Eve gift who continued to spread joy and laughter throughout her life. Her adventurous spirit was infectious, leading her to explore the grandeur of nature through camping and travel. She also appreciated the simple pleasure of a good night's sleep, often humorously claiming it as her favorite hobby.

As a registered nurse, Melissa's resilience and compassion were evident in the care she provided to her patients. Her dedication and kindness were recognized when she received the Daisy Award, a prestigious honor in the field of nursing. Yet, despite her professional accomplishments, Melissa would say that her greatest achievement was her five beautiful children: Emily Hamilton, Jadyn, Katelynn, Braxtyn, and Franklyn Dryer. Her love for them was boundless and she infused their lives with the same fun-loving spirit that defined her.

Melissa is survived by her children, her mother, Susan Charbonneau, her siblings; Matt Charbonneau, Melanie Barnhill and Michael Brewer, and father of her children, Joel Dryer. She was preceded in death by her father, Gary Pedersen. As we remember Melissa, a verse from the Bible comes to mind, "She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come." (Proverbs 31:25). This verse encapsulates Melissa's strength, her resilience, and her ability to find humor even in challenging times.
