Mema-Shua R Grant Obituary (1983 - 2019)

Mema-Shua Grant, 36, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2019, at her home surrounded by her family and friends. Visitation begins Sunday, December 1, 2019, until Services which are Wednesday, December 4, 11:00 AM 2019, at the Lincoln Indian Center, 1100 Military Road, Lincoln, NE. Lincoln Family Funeral Care is handling arrangements. Memorials can be directed to her family for a later designation. Mema was born July 2, 1983, the daughter of Rodney Grant and Christina Mesa. She graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 2001 and attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln. Mema worked throughout the Lincoln community, most recently American Job Center. She cared deeply about her friends and the native community, to Mema, character mattered above all else. She lived humbly but gave freely of what she had. Mema valued a good visit with family and friends above all else. She enjoyed beading, sewing, trips to JoAnn's and Hobby Lobby, along with time at home with her family. Mema is survived by her children, Dyani Mesa, Itan Mesa, and Jade Merrick; mother, Tina Mesa; father, Rodney Grant; sister, Mikayla Grant; brothers, Akicita Feather Necklace, and Walter Grant (Fiance, Kasandra Lopez); along with many friends and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her sister, Jade Mesa; and her paternal grandparents.
