Richard "Dana" Fate, age 61, of Lincoln, passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 3, 2019, after a nearly three year journey with cancer. He was born on July 14, 1958 in Long Beach, CA to Robert Fate and Lee (Roark) Stadie\n\nDana spent most of his childhood in Omaha and enlisted in the US Army after high school. He received a degree in auto mechanics and he was a machinist during most of his working career. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, studying physics and space, building models, sharing life stories and spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed an early retirement and moved to the Florida Keys. There he spent much time scooba diving, catching lobsters and "living the life." Nearly two years ago, Dana moved to Lincoln with his daughter (Kerri) and her family, to receive hospice home care and be near family, as his cancer progressed. His last couple months of life were spent at the Journey House at Tabitha. \n\nHe leaves behind daughters Jennifer (Patrick) Gans and Kerri (Daniel) King, both of Lincoln, six grandchildren Lorenzo and Luca Gans and Amiya, Ivy, DJ and Justus King and a younger brother Brian Fate. He was preceded in death by his mother Lee Stadie and brothers Dennis and Dale Fate. \n\nA private celebration of life gathering will take place at a later date.
