Richard (Rich) Lee Halsey passed away peacefully Friday, February 5, 2021 at the age of 74 with his loving family by his side. Rich was born in Holdrege, Nebraska to Elmer and Irene (Fulk) Halsey and grew up in Sidney, Nebraska. He attended the University of Nebraska and graduated from the University of Miami with a Business Degree.\n\nHe passed away after a valiant struggle with Lewy Body Dementia and complications after surgery. His memory will live in our hearts forever.\n\nHe was in the grocery business all his life and the last twenty years he owned stores in Beatrice (Super Foods and Beatrice Super Market), Valparaiso, and Adams Nebraska. Retiring from the grocery business in 2009.\n\nRich was an avid Husker Fan had season tickets for years and traveled to many bowl games. After retiring he enjoyed spending winters in Arizona. Rich was noted for his quick wit by many friends. Rich and Sue loved traveling together and had many trips to interesting and far away-places.\n\nHe will be lovingly remembered by his wife Susan (Flower) Halsey, daughters Trisha (Chris) Peterson and Lori Olson (Jeff Fisher). Sister, Judy Sims, Brother, Donald (Cherie) Halsey, & Sister, Peg Malleck, Step Daughter, Jolene (Randy) DeBuhr, Step Daughter, Jill (Shawn) Wiens, Step Son Jerry (Brittne) Madison. 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.\n\nRich was preceded in death by his parents and Brother, Robert Zimmerman.\n\nA private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.\n\nMemorials may be given to Beatrice Humane Society or Beatrice Community Food Pantry\n\nThe family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at Bryan East and Pemeberly Place for their care and compassion.
