Robert K. Stevens Obituary (1929 - 2017)

Robert K. Stevens, 87, passed away Friday, January 27, 2017 at Bryan Medical Center East in Lincoln, Nebraska. Memorial service is 11:00am, Saturday, February, 4, 2017 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 640 N 56th St., Lincoln, Nebraska. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Lincoln Food Bank. Robert K. Stevens was born April 4, 1929 in Leigh, Nebraska, the son of Robert H. and Marion H. (Whinnery) Stevens. He graduated from Leigh High School and Wayne State Teachers College. Robert received a Master's degree in Fine Arts from Northwestern in Evanston, Illinois. He sang in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir which included a performance at the Richard Nixon Inauguration. Robert taught music at New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois from where he retired in 1988. He moved to Lincoln, Nebraska in 1991. Robert was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Music was his life, he played the organ, piano and taught choral music. Robert is survived by his wife, Roma Stevens of Lincoln, NE; children, Robert (Kathleen) Stevens of St. Charles, IL, and Kathryn Lane of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Jessica Lane, Cole Lane, Hannah Lane, Lily Lane, Pozye Rasmussen-Lane, Jeff Stevens, Emily Stevens, Andrew Stevens, and Amanda Stevens; and sister, Judy Stevens Duff of Lincoln, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ruth Stevens Blecha.
