Susan Dailey

–

Lincoln, Nebraska

Susan Elaine Dailey, affectionately known as Suzy or Grandma Suzy to those who cherished her, entered eternal rest on March 28, 2026. Born on July 16, 1954, in Edgemont, South Dakota, Susan's life was a testament to compassion, empathy, dedication, and resilience. A devote Christian, she embodied the verse from Proverbs 31:25, “She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.” Her vibrant spirit and unwavering faith in God were pillars of her strength, inspiring everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

In her early life, Susan forged a path marked by resilience, transitioning from a military child during the Vietnam War to a zealous participant in the Woodstock festival of 1969. Her life was an extraordinary tapestry of experiences, filled with stories of her days in nursing school, living on an Army base as a young child, and being a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Susan was an epitome of dedication, having known from the tender age of 3 that she wanted to be a nurse. She lived and breathed the Florence Nightingale Pledge, serving as a registered nurse with unwavering commitment. Susan's empathetic nature shone brightly in her care for patients and strangers alike, treating everyone with the same respect and kindness.

Susan was a woman of many passions. She loved her dog Buddy, gardening, and crafting. Yet, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, making each of them feel valued and loved. She brought warmth and laughter to every gathering, often sharing captivating stories about her life and experiences. One such cherished memory her granddaughter Arcadia recalls is when four-year-old Arcadia and Grandma Suzy decorated a birthday cake together with pink frosting and sprinkles. It was these moments, filled with love and joy, that truly defined Susan's life.

Susan is survived by her loving daughter, Britany Dailey. She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Helen Schmitz. She leaves behind a legacy of love and selfless service, having touched the hearts of not only her family, but countless others as well. Her compassionate spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
