We are gathered here to remember and celebrate the life of Violet Marie Sawyer, known affectionately as Vi to many and Sissy to her family back in Jersey. Born on April 14, 1956, in Charleston, WV, Violet was a beacon of compassion, humor, and spirited energy, touching all who had the fortune of knowing her. With a heart as generous as her laughter, Violet was a testament to living life with joy and kindness.
Violet's love for life was evident in her many hobbies. She enjoyed the thrill of playing Keno, the peace of camping and fishing, and the satisfaction of planting flowers. But what mattered most to Violet was her family and her dogs, her steadfast companions through life's journey. She transformed her home in Lincoln, Nebraska, into a sanctuary of love and warmth, a testament to her skills as a homemaker. Violet's heart was vast, her spirit restless, her laughter infectious, and her generosity boundless. She was a woman of incredible strength, resilience, and love who left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving children, Shannon Steinmetz, Kevin (Stacey) Steinmetz, Keith Steinmetz, Dee (Ashley) Steinmetz; step-children, Jeremy (Ashley) Sawyer, Bryan Sawyer, Jessica (Adam) Overton; grandchildren, Siara, Aubrie, Isaac, Brendan, Alila, Delaney, Sarah, Shelby, Makayla; great-grandchildren, Brynlee, Brooklyn, Xavier, Asher, Owen, Tatum, Marshall; sisters, Debbie Wingert, Nancy Moore who will continue to honor Violet's legacy of love and kindness.
